![]() It’s not that surprising, though, as the odd unscripted explosion shakes Talos-1 and reminds you that everything is falling apart. Because you’re using them in eerily, worryingly similar ways. The more you use these powers, the more you understand what makes your enemies tick. Despite the admittedly tough difficulty at points even on Normal mode, Prey isn’t scared of making you potentially overpowered with the sheer variety of Typhon skills available. Each new discovery becomes drenched in intrigue, as underlining every new alien attack that hits you is the smug knowledge that soon it’ll be yours. With enough research you’re able to steal these alien abilities and use them for yourself. Suddenly being able to scan creatures to learn their name, weaknesses, as well as research their power, it comes across as exactly the leap in technology that Prey’s backstory paints it to be. ![]() Proving how unknowable the Typhon fundamentally are, being attacked by unnamed enemies means that eventually getting your hands on a psychotronic scanner is revolutionary. ![]() Those question marks never stop being unsettling. Seeing ‘?’ above the head of an enemy instead of a name is a smart, fitting way to introduce new foes - you work in a research facility, so ignorance is by far your greatest weakness. Think of the Mimics as stepping stones to the lurching other types of Typhon. How to get Prey’s Golden Gun (opens in new tab) Panic and paranoia, oddly, will help you most. When you meet new enemies, that’s when your instincts take over and you use Prey’s weapons inventively. They’re about finding the perfect tactic for each enemy, but having improvisation waiting in the wings as your deadliest weapon. Prey’s weapons aren’t about upscaling to a new, shinier type. Or more agile types can mix in the effortless use of alien powers, tapping the left trigger to cause a wave of thrilling devastation. Combat feels natural and incredibly freeing, as you can hulk out and chuck tables and chairs around with abandon. It all makes you feel every inch the ingenious scientist that many emails paint Morgan out to be. The real star weapon in Prey is the GLOO Gun, though, which is versatile enough to use as a way to access the out-of-reach sections of Talos-1 (by building a bridge of GLOO bubbles) and then stop a Typhon in its tracks before you murder it to bits with a shotgun. However, hit one when it’s disguised and the ‘Ha! Got you!’ catharsis is bliss. They’re not particularly strong, though, so they’re a mini-jumpscare each time you find one. These alien bastards will disguise themselves as mugs, ornaments, pretty much any harmless everyday object. Given a wrench to start with (in a nice nod to BioShock and the original Prey), it’s inevitable that you’ll start thwacking inanimate objects in blind paranoia, thinking they’re Mimics. With well over 50 hours of gameplay at least, death will be a familiar face by the end of your first hour in Prey.

This reduces the volume of tailings by as much as 50 percent, resulting in a cleaner grain tank sample. On downhill slopes, the chaffer and sieve close while the fan speed increases to keep grain from pushing towards the front of the machine. This increases the cleaning system performance by up to 50 percent on inclines of up to 16 degrees. When going uphill, both the chaffer and sieve are opened while the fan speed is reduced to keep grain from being lost through the rear. For instance, rapeseed is particularly sensitive to fan speed changes, so the system adjusts the chaffer and sieve settings first before adjusting the fan speed. The software also has an industry-exclusive crop matrix which makes specific adjustments for the type of crop that is being harvested. While she vacillates between “I can’t take it” and “I can take it,” each line she sings sounds like she’s saying “I can take it.” It gives the air of quiet confidence, a strong note to go out with. If there’s one thing Sara’s gonna do, it’s make a quiet song about suffering, probably around the end of an album. As fun as it may be to listen to the album version by yourself, it doesn’t have the same spark as being in a crowded, gay room shouting along. It’s an incredible song to see live there’s so much energy in the room. Tegan has a knack for short, brisk, hooky songs that are easy to sing/shout along to. True to the form of So Jealous, the lyrics of “Speak Slow” contemplate the decline of a romantic relationship, but the song itself is so fun, if not a little bit frenzied. It brings a necessary briskness to the album, but I’m sorry to say that it’s not very interesting. ![]() The two songs have ample space between them, the former is the second track, and latter is the penultimate. “Take Me Anywhere” has a similar vibe to “Speak Slow”: short, fun, and a little less serious than the rest of the album. The chord progression in the intro and verses aren’t identical to those in “Walking With a Ghost,” and both songs proceed in different ways, but it’s impossible for “We Didn’t Do It” to shine as long as it stands in the shadow of a big hit. The song is fine, if not a little boring. We Didn’t Do It (Sara)Įvery time this song comes on, I expect it to be “Walking With a Ghost,” and I feel disappointed when it’s not. Speaking of the original album, here’s a celebratory ranking of my least-to-most favorite songs on So Jealous with credit to the original songwriters. For newer fans or those with piqued interest, now’s a great time to jump in! But don’t miss out on the original album. It never even occurred to me that they could do that. But get this: on Still Jealous they switch to singing lead vox on each other’s songs! Still Jealous is a re-imagining of its 2004 namesake, stripped down to minimal instrumentation. It’s emotionally indulgent heartbreak music, whether your heart is breaking or not (the album may or may not convince you that it is). Their first album to experiment with different styles, the melodrama of So Jealous is hard to resist. But So Jealous is about so much more than its catchy hooks. It was the album that launched them into the spotlight, which is often credited to two events: the White Stripes cover of “Walking With A Ghost” and the premiere of Grey’s Anatomy, the mid-aughts surprise indie tastemaker. Two years prior to my discovery of internet friends and unbeknownst to me, Tegan and Sara released their fourth studio album, So Jealous. ![]() ![]() When I came out to someone in my family for the first time, my internet friends listened in, muted on video chat. We shared songs and videos, played guitar, and gushed about the exquisite pain of first Straight Girl Crushes. I landed on a Tegan and Sara fan forum, where I suddenly found myself up all night talking to new friends who were mostly also coming out. But I knew one thing: I loved the internet, and I loved Tegan and Sara. I didn’t know a lot of queer people or even understand the possibility of a queer community. I was starting to come out as some iteration of a lesbian. I met my first online friends in 2006 when I was 16.
